Winter Programme
Wednesday 6th October at 7.00pm - Cousin Alice
Singer/songwriter COUSIN ALICE creates a completely unique sound - gritty, sweet, and heartfelt, delivered with a shot or two of humour. Likened by one listener as "a cross between Tom Waits, Peggy Lee and Marianne Faithfull", Alice seduces audiences with her smokey voice, antique banjo-ukelele and battered array of musicians (the cream of London’s blues and jazzers), performing a collection of jazz standards, pop, nostalgia, original songs and the blues. Holding the crowd in the palm of her hand, be it a large music venue or intimate cabaret club, Cousin Alice is a magnetic performer.
Wednesday 3rd November at 7.00pm - Charlotte Cameron
Charlotte Cameron is an established jazz/blues vocalist and has been playing with her band in Jazz venues all over the UK for the last 5 years. Her focus is on bringing jazz classics up to date and making jazz music more accessible for a wider audience.
Influenced by a diverse array of artists from Ella Fitzgerald through to Tom Waits, you can rest assured that when Charlotte and her band performs a well known standard you will hear it in a new and exciting way you’ve never heard before.
Charlotte also offers vocal tuition and coaching for those wishing to learn for fun or professionally.
Wednesday 1st December at 7.00pm - Abigail Gilchrist as Soul Bubble Quartet
Born in Blackheath, South London, Abi played piano from 5 years old and was singing before she was speaking!
She bagan her professional music career as an classical singer after studying on a scholorship at the Guildhall School of Music and at The English National Opera. She became well known on the classical Oratorio circuit and performed Solo Soprano for a wide range of concerts including Mozart's 'Requiem' at Southwark Cathedral, Beethoven's 'Nineth Symphony' with the Goldsmith's Symphony and Beethoven's 'Missa Solemnis' at The Barbican Hall. In 2003 Abi re-trained at The London School of Musical Theatre and went on to tread the boards of the Musical Theatre stage in theatres such as The Cochrane in London's West End fringe. This culminated in her reaching the final of BBC Radio 2's Voice of Musical Theatre Competition. In 2006 Abi met what was to become the core of her own band, and began singing for corporate and private events throughout the UK and Europe.
